Product Description
P-tex repair material by itself does not bond well to steel, aluminum, wood, or fiberglass...so if you get a deep gouges that expose core material, or are along steel edges, P-Tex likely won't stay in place. Metalgrip string is a mix of polyethylene and heat-sensitive adhesive which is melted using our P-Tex Base Repair Iron into core-shot gouges or along steel edges. Metalgrip is softer than pure P-Tex repair material, for best results apply a thin layer of Metal grip, allow it to cool, then apply a layer of P-Tex String or P-Tex Repair Ribbon over the top. This will increase the durability and longevity of your repair.
- Metalgrip string is 5mm thick.
- Available in black or clear.
- Sold as a 5-foot (1.5m) length.

Metalgrip
Much longer lasting along an edge than a base weld, plus you can do it yourself. It will still wear away if your are training on ice.

Surprisingly Grippy
I took a core shot to my brand new board, probably 2-3 inches long of exposure directly to the wood. I had my local fix it, but with such a long area in a high flex/stress area, their base weld job cracked out. I used this with a soldering iron in application before the Tognar P-Tex repair string, and it has yet to crack out after 5-6 hard uses. I tried using various types of Goo, epoxy, and other flexable sealants to fill the hole before applying the P-tex, and the metal grip has held in the best. I do not expect it to last forever, as the spot is in the middle of the board, but it is exactly as I imagined and has lasted longer than expected.

metalgrip ski base repair string
This product worked well: I fixed my ski and the patch hasn't come out after 6 days skiing so far. I'd have given it 5 stars, but I had trouble getting it to lie in a thin layer as opposed to a glob.
