| Wax Iron Temperature Platform |
Item #SVT-WIP : $84.95 | |
| A wax iron that's too hot can cause at least three problems. First, excess heat can oxidize p-tex base material, literally sealing the surface so it's unable to absorb all the wax it should. Second, it causes a certain amount of base structure to be lost due to heat deformation of the p-tex. Third, too much heat creates not only more wax smoke, but...especially in the case of fluorocarbon waxes...potentially dangerous fumes as well. It's recommended to use the lowest temperature setting possible to hot wax with your iron. Monitor the temperatures you need for different waxes (warmer for hard waxes, cooler for soft waxes) with this precision-milled, fully-anodized aluminum platform. It incorporates a digital read-out thermometer to measure your iron temperature to 1/10th degree C (which can be removed from the platform and used alone for measuring snow temperature), and provides a safe place to rest your iron when hot. | ||

| Swix Hot waxing Pro Paper |
Item #SWX-T153 $13.95 | |
| Use a sheet of this lint-free absorbent paper between your iron and the ski or snowboard base during your last tip-to-tail pass when hot waxing. It absorbs excess wax and dirt, helps protect the base from overheating when applying cold waxes, and leaves a thin and uniform wax layer that requires less scraping afterwards. Comes in a pack of 100 sheets and each sheet measures 5" x 9" . | ||

| Toko Base Tex Paper |
Item #TOK-9849 : $9.95 | |
| This special non-woven paper is similar to Swix Fiberlene. It absorbs base cleaning solvent and old wax when cleaning. A sheet can also be placed between your iron and p-tex base when hot waxing to better distribute wax, leave a thinner wax layer that requires less scraping, and pick up any dirt from your iron, base material or bar of wax in the process for faster glide. Sold in a roll 6" wide x 22 yards long. | ||
swix fiberlene This special lint-free paper is ideal for use with base cleaner or wrapping around a used cork for rubbing in fluoro wax overlays. Unlike paper towels, it has high tensile strength so it won't rip or tear easily (even when saturated with solvent), and doesn't leave paper fuzz behind on ski or snowboard bases. Available in two sizes. |

base wax cleaner fluid Why risk the high toxicity and flammability of a pure petroleum solvent when this more user-friendly citric and naptha blend does a great job? It efficiently cleans ski and snowboard topsheets, sidewalls, bases, diamond stones, etc...and dries quickly, too. Just pour a little on a sheet of fiberlene, base tex paper, or shop towel and wipe off unwanted dirt, wax, grime or grunge. Although most folks prefer to use it straight, the naptha in this citric blend allows it to be diluted with water if desired. As with any cleaning solvent, use with adequate ventilation. Available in pint or gallon bottles. Please note: This item can only be shipped to customers in the lower 48 U.S.A via ground- not to Alaska, Hawaii or other countries |

Although we personally prefer using citric blend solvent for health and safety reasons, we also offer this petroleum-based recipe for those who prefer a traditional solvent. We recommend wearing protective gloves to avoid direct contact with the skin, as well as having good ventilation and wearing a respirator (offered below). Avoid using this solvent anywhere near an open flame since it is highly flammable. safety equipment A Swedish scientific study of ski technicians who waxed x-c skis frequently was made in 1989. The study was of technicians who did bulk ski waxing over a five-day period. It was determined that their breathing capacity was reduced 10-25% by exposure to smoke from hot waxing. And this study only involved standard hydrocarbon waxes...not the fluorocarbon waxes commonly used today (see Fluorocarbons vs. Flames). Always wax in a well-ventilated area, monitor your wax iron temperature to avoid overheating wax and creating more smoke, and wear a respirator. Wear gloves when working with any solvents (such as base cleaner) and protect your eyes, hands, and clothing. |

| Pro-Tec Respirator with Filters |
Item #PTR-M765 : $39.95
Protect your lungs from hydrocarbon and fluorocarbon wax smoke, wax remover fumes, repair material smoke, etc. This respirator uses two filters to screen out organic vapors, acid gas, dust, radionuclides, smoke and mist. It features a non-allergenic PVC face seal to fit most faces (unless small or very large). To check fit, put the respirator on, cover the filter intakes and breathe in a little...a vacuum should form for a good mask seal on your face. If it doesn't, please send it back. Also, when not in use, store your respirator and any spare filters in an airtight plastic zip-lock bag...otherwise they keep filtering air continually and need replacement more frequently. Clean the inside of your mask regularly with a clean rag and replace filters when you can begin smelling any smoke with respirator on.

rub in waxing |

| Wax Whizard |
Item #YUS-WW : $18.95 | ![]() |
| This unique hand tool allows you to safely and effectively wax without using a hot wax iron. Simply rub your favorite wax on ski or snowboard bases like a crayon, then use this 4” x 1.5” diameter tube with its high-friction replaceable fabric cover, and rub the base with pressure to create heat. Unlike a cork that tends to melt wax onto the surface, this tool creates greater heat and pressure to drive wax deep into base pores for greater durability and performance. It comes with a fabric cover, and replacement covers are also available. | ||

| Natural waxing Cork- large size |
Item #APG-CK125 : $4.95
| Use a cork to rub in wax when you don't have a wax iron. After rubbing wax or fluoro additives on a base, tip the cork up on a long edge and rub hard using a healthy dose of elbow grease...this will create heat that melts wax on the p-tex base. Use the natural cork for hydrocarbon wax applications, or the more porous divinucell (synthetic) cork for fluorocarbon waxes or additives (including Cera F, Jetstream, Q, etc.). The cork measures 2.5” x 1.5” x 3.5”. | ||

Item #APG-715 : $11.95 | |
| If you want one brush to handle most all your needs, this is the one to get. It's a combination of tampico and nylon bristles that is good for removing any excess wax (after scraping your hot wax) from any base structure. The thicker nylon bristles gently remove wax from any coarse structures, while the tampico bristles clean out fine structures. Measures 3" x 5". | ||
| Tognar Brass Brush |
Item #APG-712 : $13.95 |
| The fine brass bristles on these brushes remove cold hard waxes from fine base structures, plus help keep the base surface fresh and free of oxidized scale. They also helps raise loose P-tex hairs so they can be cut away with Scotchbrite or a steel scraper. Do not use for fluorocarbon overlays and waxes because it can scour it away...and in fresh cold snow it can expose irregularities in the structure that catch sharp new snow crystals and create drag...so follow it's use with a horsehair brush, wax buffing pad or felt polishing block. 3" x 5". | ||
| Tognar Nylon Brush |
Item #APG-713W : $10.95
| This is a good brush to use for removing excess warmer waxes from a coarse base structure. The thicker nylon bristles impart a slightly smoother surface than horsehair or brass brushes by leaving some wax in the deepest parts of the base structure. Bristles are all white, unlike the photo shown here. Both brushes measure 3" x 5". | ||
| Tognar Fine Steel Brush |
Item #APG-716Y : $19.95 | ![]() |
| These durable fine steel brushes feature soft steel bristles designed to be used for initial brushing after scraping excess wax (hard or soft) from any structure pattern (fine, medium or coarse) on any ski or snowboard base. They can also be used as a polishing brush for hard waxes. Although initially more expensive than brass or copper brushes, these steel bristles stay sharper, are more durable, have better memory and don't deform as easily over time. Measures 3" x 5". | ||
| Tognar Horsehair Brush |
Item #APG-711 : $11.95 | ![]() |
| This brush is used primarily for final brushing of any waxes, since it leaves a finer finish than other brushes. Use it for brushing Swix Cera F, Toko Jetstream and other fluorocarbon waxes after ironing or corking them into a base. One brush should be reserved for using only with 100% fluorocarbons...as the bristles fill with excess wax or powder it can be used at the race start for giving bases their final brushing. Measures 3" x 5". | ||

| Tognar Nylon Polishing Brush |
Item #APG-713B : $11.95
| This brush has very fine nylon bristles and is commonly used at race starts. Use it as a final polishing brush for Swix Cera F, Toko Jetstream, Dominator Q,and any other 100% fluoro overlays. It does not create as much static as a horsehair brush. Measures 3" x 5". | ||

ROTOBRUSHES We carry swix, Toko, and Red creek (snowboard) rotobrushes. Rotobrushes are used by many of the world's top national teams and factory service technicians...not only because they save time, but because they help create the fastest bases as well. Rotobrushes are very versatile...they can be used to remove wax, open and uncover base structure, cut away unwanted p-tex hairs and polish bases. We offer a complete selection of handles, brushes and attachments. To operate, slip the desired brush or attachment onto a control handle, clamp the handle into any electric or battery-powered drill, and start the drill. Roto-brushes are designed to operate at speeds between 800 and 2500rpm... enough to launch tiny wax particles in the air. Some control handles are available with a plexiglass brush shield to contain most of these, otherwise we recommend wearing protective eyewear whenever rotobrushing. For more info, see rotobrush tips. |
