Product Description
Some skis are made with a metal sheet inside, or have a hard insert in the core, these skis generally require you tap the screw holes prior to mounting bindings. This tap has a thread pitch that matches that of an Alpine ski binding screw. We offer two versions of ski taps. This version has a convenient built-in handle and a shaft diameter designed to be used with a mounting jig, it can also be used free-hand in a pinch. The second version is a bit less expensive because you bring the tap handle to the game and it doesn't work with a jig but is free-hand only. For 4.1mm+ diameter holes only, will not work with smaller diameters.
- Built in handle.
- Shaft diameter fits snuggly in guide holes of mounting templates ensuring vertical tapping.
- Can be used with or without a jig.
- For 4.1mm+ diameter holes only, will not work with smaller diameters.
- Sold each.
How to use:
Tap slowly, when you feel the tap touch the bottom of the hole back stop and back it out slowly. When inserting screws be sure not to over tighten them to avoid stripping the hole. Always defer to the ski or binding manufacturer recommendations.

Alpine Ski Binding Mounting Tap
Works great. Not unique but very handy to buy along with all the other tools.

Tap
Great product, easy to use

Mounting tap
Tap works perfectly. Dinging one star because the handle is a little lightweight. Just makes it less comfortable in the hand than some taps I’ve used. Overall did the job fine.

Work very well
Easy to use

Mounting Tap
Definitely would buy the power drill tap in the future. This tap was very difficult to use on a recent carbon fiber ski mount. Hard to pressure and turn with hands while keeping it straight.

Gets the job done
Bottom line: It worked and I did successfully mount binders. The handle came loose a few holes in but some retaining compound has taken care of that for now. The quality does not quite live up to the cost. Not sure how many metal skis it will stay sharp enough to mount.

Excellent; does exactly what it should

Did I need this?
I’m not convinced I did, but it’s still cheaper than driving an hour and paying some kid to do it for me. Hopefully I don’t misplace this one... otherwise expect another similar review next year.
