Product Description
Some skis are made with a metal sheet inside, or have a hard insert in the core, these skis generally require you tap the screw holes prior to mounting bindings. This tap has a thread pitch that matches that of an Alpine ski binding screw.
- Requires tap handle (sold separately)
How to use:
Tap slowly, when you feel the tap touch the bottom of the hole back stop and back it out slowly. When inserting screws be sure not to over tighten them to avoid stripping the hole. Always defer to the ski or binding manufacturer recommendations.

Binding Mounting Tap 12AB
Effective. Some guys like to chamfer/countersink the hole to prevent lifting of a metal top sheet - which makes no sense at all. The top sheet and any binding reinforcement sub-layer should be threaded with a tap. I'm an engineer and was trained to understand these things.

Perfect tap for metal top sheet
Definitely need a tap for metal top sheet. It doesn’t cut a deep thread - but creates a good starting thread in the metal top plate. Screws align accurately and straight when mounting.

ALPINE SKI BINDING MOUNTING TAP
It worked exactly as it should have. I counter sunk the hole first, then tapped through the metal top plate taking care not to force the tap to deep into the hole.

Works just as engineered. I only wish the tap had an adjustable stop.

Worked flawless. Was able to mount my look pivots to a set of skis with titanol at home.

Another good quality Wintersteiger tool. Eases starting binding screws without "volcanoeing" the edges of holes. A must for skis with metal in the topsheet.

Quality Tools, Fast shipping
I picked this up from Tognar to mount some skis I bought at a swap. After 12 long years of living far away from mountains and skiing, I'm back at it. Now I'm tooling up my home shop and this was one of the high priority items. I mean, you don't always have to tap the whole, but it doesn't seem like it's ever bad. Tognar was helpful and I'm sure I'll be buying more from them in the future.
