      Wide tip really help the fix get a better result. You won't make ur base messy, and it can heat up ur string ptex or ribbon more evenly that provide you with a stronger adhesiveness.

      Should come with the iron. Needed both the thin tip and wide tip to complete my first core shot repair. Did the job.

      While not the problem of the device itself, I wish this optional head worked with a few of the various soldering irons I have on me. Kind of disappointing, so I cannot use this without buying the base iron supplied on this website. However, looking at the shape of this tool and seeing the fixes I have to do on my snowboard it would be immediately apparent on why this would be useful. Just a shame it doesn't work on 3 different soldering irons i own.

      The little head supplied with the repair iron is in my opinion a little on the small side so I purchased this and it will remain on the iron for use with all size repairs

      Having the wide head made it MUCH easier to pack the melted P-tex into the gouges and smooth it all over. No point in having the iron without this tip, in my opinion.

      I tried to fill a big core shot with the tiny standard tip and very quickly discovered the usefulness of this item. If you buy the iron you have to have this too

      Filled in a narly gash along the edge of my skis. Used the P-tex repair ribbon to cover the base material and topped it off with the p-tes repair string. Use the wide angle tip on the base repair iron for an almost invisible repair. Has held up just fine so far this ski season.

      This is a must-have for the iron, works like a hot spatula to scrape and flatten molten ptex into damaged base spots.
