Product Description
A simple tool for imparting a structure to the base of Nordic skis. As you roll the composite body along the base of the ski a brass roller presses a "broken V" structure into the base material. Guide wings integrated into the body of the tool ensure a straight structure. As a ski travels across snow a thin layer of water is formed as the result of friction, the warmer the snow the more water is formed. A structure (basically fancy micro-grooves in a ski base of various patterns) breaks up the surface tension of the water, which can cause drag, and gives that water somewhere to go.
- Includes a .5mm Broken Structure Roller (the most versatile)
- Will not work on Alpine Skis, Nordic only.
How to use the tool:
Simply set the tool on the ski base and, while applying moderate pressure, slide the tool from tip to tail. The white arrow indicates the direction of travel. The white dot/arrow on the side of the tool indicate how the roller should be installed. The roller designation (i.e. V 0.5) should sit on the same side as the white dot/arrow marking. Structure is most effectively applied after waxing (so heat from the iron will not affect the structure shape) and is then lightly brushed. Structure will disappear after next waxing and can be changed or reapplied.
